Diamonds on the Water

In the late afternoon, near twilight of the day,
you can find them dancing, bobbing on the surface;
shining brighter than any sun.
Their rhythmic motions call to me,
whispering sweet melodies of life and love;
bringing me back to that tormented day,
when the jewels first revealed themselves.

In that lonesome twilight, my life unraveled.
The shimmering liquid jewels came to me,
breaking free from their briny prison;
Dancing across the cerulean blue waters
with graceful fluidity, reviving my soul.
I watched in childlike wonder,
as my jewels sparkled in the ever setting sun;
that moment when the day kissed the night.

I return to my precious jewels on cold, windy days;
when life is most unforgiving.
Searching again for that salvation of light,
enlivening my soul with their heaven sent splendor.
Reminding me of the wonderment life holds;
hidden treasures of love, floating
on the unquiet sea of the everyday .
Look there, in the now setting sun and you will see,
the glistening majesty of my Diamonds on the Water.

I hope you enjoyed my #oneshotwednesday post.
Thanks for stopping by!

  1. Love it! I felt like I was there watching the reflections of light dance on the water's surface. You're very talented...are you thinking of putting together a book? :)

  11. I enjoyed the flow in this, but I kind of didn't get the meaning. (probably because I'm quite stupid and it's very late). Was it a metaphor, not a metaphor? I'm confused but I still finished the whole poem, the flow drags you along really well.
