Cunning Cruelty

Crescendo! Clouds assail the mountainside
Dark, stalking, ever searching for the perfect moment
Hiding is useless for they are cunning
The clouds will find you!

Dancing on the edge of space and time
Their shapes will mesmerize and enchant you
Don’t be fooled, for that is the game they play
I said the clouds are cunning.

Unwittingly, you call them near
Begging for release from the flames
But the clouds are only taunting
Their cruelty is revealed.

Death pursues those who cannot wait
While thunderous sounds shake the horizon
Do you hear them laughing?
I said the clouds are cruel.

  1. This is a nice poem. Sinister and brtual yet when looked at completely true. Clouds really are cruel things. They will ruin a wedding and then the next day let the church burn down. I like it.
